We are a small working cattle ranch in northwest South Dakota. We have natural wooded draws, dry creek bottoms and wide open prairies. We are fortunate to be located along the Little Missouri River in Unit 35 and have several nice dams which attract whitetail and mule deer. We have a few wild turkeys that show up once a year and roam along the river but not enough to plan a turkey hunting trip. We recently purchased 960 more acres that the antelope seem to frequent. We are offer non-guided hunts with housing.
We give preference to the kind of hunters who become family friends and come back year after year. If it is your first trip the ranch we will give you a tour of the ranch upon arrival mainly to tell you where you can and can not drive. Tours last from 1/2 an hour to one hour. Jesse will tell you where he would hunt and what he has seen and where you can and can not drive.
We have almost 3,000 acres located at the homestead, that you can access as soon as you open the door to your lodging. This land borders the Little Missouri River and includes many draws and hills. The whitetail deer roam the fields that border our driveway and the river while the mule deer stay hidden in the draws. Antelope do like one field along the road but it is hard to stalk and hunt them there as they spook easy. Our main cattle herd call the homestead home March-May for calving and the last week of Sept and beginning of Oct for fall work. Although we usually have a small herd of cattle at home all times of the year.
960 acres with two dams and new for 2024 a well and water tank. Swinson Place is located 3 miles west of the homestead. The main pasture along the road is an oat & alfalfa field that the antelope love to call home. We send all of our antelope hunters to this piece of property. It is best to bring a blind to set up as the antelope field is pretty flat. The two sections off to the north west are surrounded by walk in hunting grounds and home to mule deer. When Onyx updates this land will read Jesse Bail.
We own around 2500 acres 20 minutes north of our residence that we call the Boxelder. The Boxelder borders North Dakota and is popular for those hunting Mule Deer. The Boxelder borders a river but also has a lot of flat land. It has less people traveling through and around it than the homestead. We recently purchased the section that says Rosenberger, it is now available to hunt as well. Our cows move to the Boxelder in October for winter grazing.
Until 2024 the CY was enrolled in the States Walk-In Hunting Program. We have taken it out of the program this year and will see how it goes. As you can see our land is surrounded by state land we lease. Walk-In Hunters will still be allowed to access the states land. This year will be a testing year to see if our hunters are successful on our piece of the CY. The CY has several dams and water tanks and is our cows summer grazing pasture. The WALK-IN area is what will no longer be walk-in & available to hunt with private property tags.

Non-Refundable Hunt Down Payment that you can deduct from nightly rate. It is recommended you communicate with us via phone, text or email to confirm that the dates you want are available prior to you putting down money. All monies are non-refundable. Due to many people reserving hunts and then not drawing tags for several years in a row we can no longer transfer reservations to the next year. We thank you for understanding. We don't require a large down payment and scheduling in advance was getting hard to go back and fit people in that did not draw.
